Very cool interview! Thank you both very much. I'm happy to see that it's getting better all the time to get informations about the inner workings of the FreeBSD Project. Be it your podcasts, the Status Reports or something else.
I agree. I also have a comment: I believe that the 3d desktop will soon become a highly desired aspect on the desktop. Particularly as we have seen such innovation from the Apple team with their expose and others. We also know that Windows Vista will bring some 3d features - albeit at a performance cost.
Finally, I'm a gnome user and I also do not know why people use KDE :) - This is a question that goes into my vaught of unknowns (together with why people have G4 laptops running linux).
well, i don't like the look of kde much, but i think i understand why many people, especially technically minded, choose kde. it's because gnome is going in that strange direction of not providing any settings and customisation. it's rather sad, i liked gnome but it's just getting too dumb and difficult to work with. i wish they left at least something like advanced options for the users who want to tweak.

Good interview!
Michael Tran has transcribed this interview: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-gnome/2006-April/014181.html
In the interview Joe didn't understand why people choose KDE over Gnome desktops.
I don't really know why others make their choice, but for me the name "Gnome" is just silly so it's KDE...
Actually I just like the look of KDE better.
Cheers
