Besides ekiga there is a relatively good softphone for asterisk that runs on freebsd : kiax - http://kiax.org
It speaks the native for asterisk protocol IAX2 and has a simple user interface.
Unfortunately in the ports is the older version 0.8.4, however you can download and compile version 0.8.5 without much trouble.
Thanks for the PodCast, very good job! One of my fav podcast and one I really recommend. It's summer so I'm behind a few shows but I will catch up soon :)
